ABOUT PSOC

The Penn State Outing Club, PSOC for short, is an entirely student-run organization that is dedicated to experiencing the outdoors! PSOC was founded in 1920, making it one of the oldest clubs at Penn State. Still running strong today, PSOC club members and the community have formed the club around organizing trips that allow them to experience the outdoors all across PA and some of the east coast! Our community is knit together through a mutual love, respect, and appreciation for the outdoors.
If you love (or want to get into) hiking, backpacking, and overnight trips outdoors, then this is the club for you! There is much to learn and experience within PSOC, and a strong, knowledgeable community to be a part of! Join PSOC to gain a variety of opportunities to learn about the great outdoors and to travel to places as close to home as Mount Nittany and Rothrock State Forest, but also to every corner of PA and surrounding states! |

Tyler VerscheldePRESIDENTHello! My name is Tyler Verschelde, a junior studying meteorology and atmospheric science. I’m originally from Mansfield, NJ and love all things outdoors. Some of my favorite activities include hiking, camping, geocaching, swimming, golf, and snowboarding. I’m also a very passionate golfer and enjoy all kinds of physical activity.

Calvin BrzozowskiVICE PRESIDENTMy name is Calvin Brzozowski and I am a third year telecommunications major. I am from Plymouth, PA and am an avid outdoorsman. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and just about any activity that gets me outside and a part of nature. I believe in the preservation of nature, the furthering of conservation as a whole, and showing others just how wonderful it is to get outside.

Alex FoorTREASURERHi, my name is Alex Foor. I am a 3rd-year computer science student and serving as the PSOC treasurer for 2024. I have loved backpacking and hiking since I was in the Boy Scouts and I am grateful to PSOC for allowing me to enjoy these activities more than ever.

I love to hike, ski, play sports and enjoy any activity that involves the outdoors and fresh air. I am super excited for all the PSOC member events we have planned and can’t wait to have fun with all y’all this semester.

Jackson AugerOUTINGS CHAIRHey everyone, I am Jackson, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering. My upbringing was in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. I enjoy being outside, but I especially like hiking and backpacking. I am looking forward to planning some fun adventures for PSOC this year.

Victor YangQUARTERMASTER CHAIRMy name is Victor Yang and I am currently a junior studying mechanical engineering. I am from Pittsburgh, PA. I am an Eagle Scout and attribute my passion for the outdoors to my experiences in Scouting. I enjoy hiking, skiing, bushcraft, and backpacking.
